Community Service Are you looking for an opportunity for your group to connect outside of the group meeting? Maybe a change of pace from the game night, movie night, or Braves game that serves as your group’s typical “planned interruption”? We may have just what you’re looking for. Many groups have found it rewarding to spend some time together serving others. Whether it’s serving meals at a shelter, building a Habitat house, or refereeing basketball games for inner-city youth, there’s something about coming together to serve others that just naturally deepens our relationships. This is also an incredible way to pursue Influence with Outsiders together as a group. With all that in mind, we have sought to create opportunities for small groups to serve their communities. The community service page of the NPCC website (www.northpoint.org/service) lists several compassion ministries that are doing an excellent job serving within their spheres of influence. We encourage you to contact these ministries directly to see how your group can join with them to serve others. Fall 2006 also marks the launch of an exciting new community service program for North Point Ministries. With the launch of the Intersect Project, Buckhead Church and its six community partners are working together to connect small groups with service opportunities in their areas. Buckhead Church is piloting the program this fall, and North Point's Alpharetta campus hopes to launch in 2007. For more information, please visit www.buckheadchurch.org/intersect. |
